January 2010: Jen Ward, Snowflakes Ski School
Jen is a children’s instructor at Snowflakes this season. She is bubbly, energetic, and is a huge hit with the kids. If you are skiing and hear “BOOM CHAKALAKA” you know Jen is working. She creates a fun and exciting atmosphere to keep the kids interested and learning. Her enthusiasm is infectious, no employee is immune. Her manager, ‘Chelle Sonder, says that after 3 or 4 days of both working and going to school Jen is just as enthusiastic and energetic as she was on the first day. Look for her on the ski hill and see if you can catch the fever.
December 2009: Katie Stow, Downhill Ski Area
Katie has been with us as a lift operator for two seasons. If you have skied at Tahoe Donner this winter you have probably experienced her smiling face and superb customer service. Her managers have lost count of the accolades members and guests have given her throughout the season. Matt Gibbons, Lift Maintenance Manager, said “I have had complements from guests, employees, homeowners and even senior managers (about Katie). Her smiling face and great work ethic are unbeatable.” Lift Operations supervisor, Jeremiah Ferguson, said that Katie has shown time and time again what it is to be a great lift operator. People come up to him to tell him what a great lift operator she is and how helpful she has been to their children. In this family oriented community Katie has proven to be a great asset to Tahoe Donner Association and we would like to thank her for her hard work and dedication.
November 2009: Sylvia Marichalar, Trout Creek Recreation Center
Sylvia is a host at Trout Creek Recreation Center. Her outstanding customer service has been acknowledged by members and employees alike. She is always at the front desk with a smile on her face ready for a friendly chat. The Not-So-Haunted-House in October was a huge event and Sylvia went out of her way to help out. Sylvia shared her amazing seamstress abilities with Tahoe Donner and put together all of the robes for the characters in the haunted house. Ben Rechter, Recreation Coordinator says of Sylvia, “She is the true meaning of a team player and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award.”
