About Us
OUR MISSION: To inspire generosity and pool charitable giving among Tahoe Donner neighbors in order to support deserving programs and youth in the greater Truckee community.
More than ten years ago, the establishment of the Tahoe Donner Giving Fund (TDGF) was inspired by an insightful Tahoe Donner (TD) member who wanted to make a difference in the community. On September 27, 2014, the TD Board of Directors approved the committee charter, which directed fundraising efforts to support the following areas of interest:
- Arts and culture
- Education and youth development
- Environment, conservation and animal welfare
- Health and human services
The TD Board of Directors appoints committee members who are responsible for fundraising efforts and make funding recommendations to both the TD Board of Directors and the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF). Funding is focused on student scholarships and grants to local nonprofit organizations within the Tahoe Truckee community.
The TDGF is administered as an affiliate fund of the TTCF, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 68-0416404. All contributions are voluntary, irrevocable and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. The TTCF provides oversight, legal, accounting and investment services for the GF. In addition, TTCF coordinates annual collaborative grant and scholarship application and selection processes.
Given the large size of the Tahoe Donner membership, we can have a substantial impact on the community with even small annual gifts from individual members. If a significant percentage of property owners choose to participate, the Giving Fund has the potential to be one of the largest charitable funds in the area, providing support to students and programs that need it the most.
